While it looks like it was pulled from a fantasy novel, we actually found this regal Drexel Dragon on a vintage, midcentury pennant. The Dragons have been known as such since 1928, when school spirit was at a low; in particular, non-engineering students at the Drexel Institute of Art, Science, and Industry didn’t want to be known as the “Drexel Engineers.” In 1929, the first Dragon debuted – not as a costumed mascot, but as a large constructed piece.
